Big Bear's Night Life

WEEKEND NIGHT LIFE

In the Villiage Murray's, Chad's and the Roadhouse appear to cater to a younger crowd. The Bit 'n Spur may or may not have live music, which is a shame because they have a very nice dance floor. You might find karaoke at the Bowling Barn and The Pub. The Holiday Inn (Best Western), Stillwell's lounge (Northwoods) and Nottingham's should have live music most weekends.

The Tail of the Whale and Big Bear Mountain Brewery seem to favor rock bands, while Mandoline's upstairs lounge features jazz. During winter weekends, the ski lodges at Bear Mountain and Snow Summit may have live entertainment. It's better to call ahead first and find out what's happening, because DJs playing ear-splitting gangsta' rap might not be your thing.

WEEKDAY NIGHT LIFE

There is line-dancing at the Bowling Barn every Wednesday night, starting with a lesson at 7:00 PM. DJs Joe and Suzette will be taking your requests. If you want to two-step, swing, boogie or slow dance, just ask them to cue up your favorite songs.

Thursday nights at The Pub, located in the Village at 664 Pine Knot Ave., may be a good place to meet the local singles. Call 866-5755 to find out if there will be live music and dancing. If it's happening, go enjoy the dance floor, fireplace and friendly atmosphere, and be sure to invite your single friends!

Are you ready for a list of great places to visit in Big Bear?  Here goes:

The Grey Squirrel Restaurant (Pine Knot Ave) has great ADULT dining, few children.

Captains Anchorage (Moonridge street) is a great restaurant for adults & children, they serve steak, prime rib, chicken, kids menu, full salad bar, basically a nice dinner house, similar to an Outback Steakhouse.

The Cowboy Express Steak House (Lakeview Drive) is a great casual family restaurant.

Village Pizza is a great pizza and sandwich place that has a few video and pinball games for kids as you are waiting for your pizza.  They serve beer and wine also.

Nachos Mexican Restaurant is a small place in the Stater Brothers shopping center - - Great food!

Big Bear Discovery Center is a fun place for the family to go to.  It is on the North side of the lake.

The Bowling Barn (Lakeview Drive) is fun for the family to bowl.  They have games for the kids, a bar with bands on the weekends, and good food.  Great fun for families.  If you mail or take them a family photo of you bowling you get a free game.  They also have different colored head pins and if you get a strike when certain colored pins are the head pins you win prizes.  LOTS OF FUN!!!.

For the MOMS there is a great gift and specialty shop on Pine Knot Ave called Weinachts.  A must see!!!.

There is the best FREE sledding hill on Mill Creek Road.  You take a right on Edgemont Road (just before the Log Cabin Restaurant on Big Bear Blvd. another GREAT family restaurant).  Edgemont will run right into Mill Creek.  Go right on Mill Creek and the sled hill is on the left hand side.  You can't miss it!

Movie Theatres (one on Big Bear Blvd. and one on Pine Knot Ave).

There is a huge Arcade on Big Bear Blvd next to the movie theatre and another one on Pine Knot.

Leroys Ski & Snowboard Rentals (Big Bear Blvd) great prices & service and close to ski hills.

Murrays Saloon (Cottage Lane-behind Chads Place) is a bar that serves food also.  Kind of a hick bar but it is fun to go there and listen to all the locals talk.  People who have lived in Big Bear Forever go here and the bartenders never change, they have Karaoke on weekends.  A very warm and inviting place, but very different from Orange County if you know what I mean.

Chads Place is a bar and has live music on weekends.  Lots of games and pool tables.
Blue Whale Restaurant is right on the lake just off Big Bear Blvd. Big Bear Marina has rentals: fishing boats, pontoon boats, jet skis, etc.
